Gabriel García Márquez

Gabriel José de la Concordia García Márquez was a Colombian writer and journalist. Recognized principally for his novels and short stories, he also wrote narrative non-fiction, speeches, reports, film reviews and memoirs.

Gabriel García Márquez worked primarily as a writer and journalist. During his career, he wrote numerous novels, short stories and non-fiction works, establishing himself as one of the most prominent authors of the 20th century.

As a journalist, García Márquez worked for many newspapers and magazines in Colombia and other countries. He was a correspondent and reporter in various places, covering important events such as the military coup in Guatemala in 1954 and the Cuban Revolution in 1959.

In addition to his work as a writer and journalist, García Márquez also worked in film and theater. He participated in the writing of film scripts and adaptations of his own works for the cinema.

I like Gabriel García Márquez very much because he contributed a lot to narrative journalism and he hasgood works that I enjoy very much.

    I read some books of García Márquez and I liked them very much. I didn’t know he’s also a journalist.

    In classes I had to analyze "Relato de un naufrago", a fictionalized story by García Márquez and it is impressive how he was able to realize a minute detail in a interview, which changed the whole story.

    I love the way García Márquez tells his stories, one of my favorite books is "Cien años de soledad".

  When I left school I had many ideas of what to study. I thought about cinema, journalism, psychology, sociology, arts and anthropology. The one that most caught my attention was cinema, but at the last minute and on impulse I left journalism in the first place.   In my head it was a good idea to be similar to Juan Carlos Bodoque, I guess... When I knew the results of PAES I automatically stayed in journalism, so all the careers I had once thought about disappeared. When I was little I changed careers every day. I wanted to be an actress, a doctor, a pediatrician, a dancer and a firefighter. Being in journalism I have realized that I like it a lot, in the future I would like to specialize in the cultural and artistic area.

  If you are reading this, I hope you are well.   My name is Catalina and I was born in the commune of San bernardo on August 12, 2003.
